How to Self Tan and be a Yummy Mommy

Can’t tone it? Tan it.
Being tan makes you look healthier, leaner, firmer.  Ironically, being tan looks healthy, but tanning in the sun is not healthy. Here is how to "self tan."

How to make your own home gym

Make your own home gym:
Preparation, preparation, preparation. As a Mom, we all know what happens when you venture out without diapers, snacks, your wallet. The same thing applies to fitness. You must have the right gear. I have put together a simple, inexpensive list of items to help you make your own home gym. Trust me, it won’t cut into your mani-pedi budget.
How to make your own HOME GYM:

Today's Workout: "Bye Bye Fat!"

Today's workout was grueling. My shirt was soaked in sweat, love that! I also love, love, love to keep moving during my workouts.

Today I made a circuit of 4 super challenging exercises and did each one for 1 minute, full out. I repeated the entire circuit 5 times. Allow 2 minute rest inbetween the entire circuit. Stop if you feel dizzy, nauseated or extra short of breath. As with any type of exercise, it is imperative to prepare your body for exercise: stretch, move, power walk, light jog, jump rope. Don't go from sitting on the couch to full out fitness. Warm up first. Here is Today's Workout...

I have not yet read Geneen Roth’s book, Women, Food and God but I hear it’s great!

In a recent e-blast from Oprah’s website they had a short article (perhaps an excerpt from the book?) that caught my attention. If you want to read the whole article, here’s the link:

But the part that intrigued me most was Geneen’s idea of writing a “Fat Dialogue.” Here’s a condensed version of what Geneen had to say:

Determining Your Exercise Intensity for Cardiovascular Exercise by Dr. William Kraemer, Ph.D.

3Determining Your Exercise Intensity for Cardiovascular Exercise

Well you have been getting a start by walking and just starting an exercise habit before you really get started with a more intense exercise program.  You have gotten a clear bill of health from your physician and some of you may have even taken an exercise stress test which evaluated you heart function as well as your cardiovascular fitness and then you know exactly what your maximal heart you can exercise at...

Pajama Days: Good for the Soul / Sugar Junkie Blog by Guest Blogger Rebecca Hill

March 8, 2011

Hello, girlfriends! This week I want to explore the last question Deepak Chopra proposed in his LA Times New Year’s Eve article.

In an attempt to understand ourselves and what we really want and need out of our lives, I want to take a look at Deepak’s question, “What is my idea of well being, and how can I achieve it?” If we can answer this, I don’t think we’ll need our “cupcake crutch” as often – at least that’s what I’m hoping because I’m getting tired of leaning on “cupcake crutches” to help me hobble through life. Are you?

If so, please take 5 to 10 minutes out of your busy day (and I do know that y’all are busy!) and really contemplate – “What is my idea of well being, and how can I achieve it?”

Health Benefits of Green Tea

Kiana-Tom-2011-c-300x275.jpg

My latest drink of choice is GREEN TEA.

The Chinese believe that GREEN TEA is "magic in a cup."

Dating back 4,000+ years, it has been known to cure everything from toothaches and depression to diabetes and cancer. Pretty impressive, don't you think?

(Better than the fact that Coca Cola can remove corrosion and rust from your car battery. Yikes!?
What must it do to your body?)...

Years ago, we went to South America on vacation.
There were so many amazing things I remember about Brazil and South America, such as seeing Rio DeJaniero, the Corcovado, Sugar Loaf Mountain, the Amazon River, hiking the ruins at Machu Pichu.

Another thing that I remember all too well, is when we went out to dinner one night to a famous steak restaurant. We ordered and all shared a bottle of their best wine. We were all laughing and visiting when the food arrived. I was shocked. Placed in front of me was...

Sugar Junkie Blog by Rebecca Hill. And the Oscar goes to..

February 27, 2011
While everyone else is watching the Oscars I’m sitting here contemplating Deepak Chopra’s question, “What kind of relationships do I want to have?” I’m not doing this because I’m “so deep and centered” – I’m doing this because my husband, Tom, turned our TV reception off 3 years ago upon both of us realizing that I’m a TV addict, and in particular, I’m a reality show junkie. If I remember correctly, it was a “Real Housewives of Orange County” marathon that was the final straw in making this decision.
After about 6 hours of me watching “The Real Housewives” and refusing to talk with Tom or even get out of bed, Tom started yelling, “This must stop. Ever since I’ve known you, you’ve talked about wanting to be a writer, but you never even try to write – you just watch TV!” So, off went the TV and I guess it worked – because here I am writing instead of watching the Oscars. (Though I do keep trying to get “sneak peeks” of the Oscars from clips online and The Huffington Post…our secret, okay!?!) Read more.

HELLO FIT MOMS ALL OVER THE WORLD!

My name is Lisa Robins and I am a certified personal trainer, freelance fitness writer, group exercise manager, figure competitor, fitness spokesmodel, and most importantly a busy MOM!

Firstly, I am so excited and flattered to be chosen to be Kiana’s Fit Mom of the Month. As a girl, I cannot forget being absolutely mesmerized by Kiana’s presence on ESPN’s Flex Appeal.  At the time, I had never seen a woman with such muscularity, strength and confidence speak with such intelligence and poise. Kiana’s positive image, and all that she stands for, has truly been one of great inspiration to me in becoming the strong woman I am today.
