Fit Mom of the Month: Lisa Robins
My name is Lisa Robins and I am a certified personal trainer, freelance fitness writer, group exercise manager, figure competitor, fitness spokesmodel, and most importantly a busy MOM!
Firstly, I am so excited and flattered to be chosen to be Kiana’s Fit Mom of the Month. As a girl, I cannot forget being absolutely mesmerized by Kiana’s presence on ESPN’s Flex Appeal. At the time, I had never seen a woman with such muscularity, strength and confidence speak with such intelligence and poise. Kiana’s positive image, and all that she stands for, has truly been one of great inspiration to me in becoming the strong woman I am today.
Day in and day out, I am one-on-one training Moms like us; Real women who strive to be healthy and fit, as well as be a positive role model for their children. Aside from fulfilling my responsibility as a fitness trainer; To bring my clients to a level of physicality that they simply could not attain on their own, I have, by accident morphed into a “Lifecoach/ Role Model” for my “Mommy” clients, who strive to be fit, healthy and strong, guiding them with tips to “Get it all in”!
I so excited to share with you the knowledge that I have learned through the years of being a fitness professional who proudly pushes amazing, fit Moms to the MAX every, single day.
LESSON #1 THERE IS NO AGE ON PHYSICAL FITNESS:
There are absolutely no boundaries or exceptions for Moms not to look as good as women who may be younger than them or even women who have never gone through the unforgettable pregnancy body metamorphosis. Fitness is a lifestyle, not an expiration date!
LESSON #2 WOMEN ARE LIKE FINE WINE:
Day in and day out, I cannot even tell you how I’ve become more and more impressed by the awesome maturity of the female physique and the sexiness age adds to our silhouette. When I finally met Kiana in-person last year, nothing could have been closer to this truth. Today, she is not only tight and strong, but the confidence and intelligence that exudes from her maturity is strikingly amazing. We are not girls… We ARE women!
LESSON #3 TIME IS NOT REALITY:
Who created clocks anyway? Although Moms are truly the busiest people I know, time is just a unit of measurement. Ditch the watch and focus on getting it all done rather than being stressed on how you will fit it all in. Life is about living and it should be done on your own terms.
LESSON 4: YOU DO MATTER
The most common feedback I hear from my “Fit Mommys” is that their life is all about their kids and they are not valued. Value comes from the inside and is a selfless quality we all need. Your kids are a part of you, so in essence, it is about you too! It is crucial to find your inner strengths, likes, dislikes and passions, so you grow internally as your kids grow to be little adults.
LESSON 5: A STRONG BODY=A STRONG MIND
I am constantly approached by real Moms, frustrated that they need my help in-order to get healthy and fit. I have been so impressed by the confidence and positive personality changes these same women show, once they start making positive steps towards a life full of health and strength.
Like I always tell them… There is nothing like the power and confidence a healthy and fit body will give you, but when that strong body empowers your way of thinking, which it will, that is the real deal of what true strength is.
